In some countries women and girls are -for some inexplicable and unsubstantiated reasons-considered as subordinate, even less valuable than men, leaving women to depend on hand outs, charity and humanitarian aid.
Not to mention the stigmatization and myths circulating to keep women in their disadvantaged position. Stigmas and myths as to women being impure, possessed by the devil while menstruating, women suddenly no longer allowed to attend religious functions, cook, touch other members of their community and worse. There is no scientific proof that suggests, that women are less valuable than men, on the contrary. Yet women are being kept from making a valuable and positive contribution, because of the mere fact that they are women and so-called cannot carry out the same functions as a man.

Fact. Undoubtedly an intricate part of general health management. No cleanliness without water and access to sanitation and hygiene facilities supporting safe practices. Work attendance is highly dependable on women at work having access to privacy and basic dignity, by means of proper facilities, allowing them to manage their period in a safe, confident and sanitary way.
Solution. Safepad addresses many of the major problematic issues surrounding WASH, while aiming to ensure long-term sustainability of equitable, environmentally friendly and well-suited solutions.
